In the 2017-18 school year, Riordan launched a new House System which is a platform to foster a stronger school community by creating mentorship opportunities and healthy competition among students. Made popular by the Harry Potter series, the House System is also widely used at many Marianist high schools across the country.
At Riordan there are four Houses–Bolts, Cana, Pilar and Russi–made up of students from different grade levels. Each House is divided into smaller mentor groups with a faculty/staff moderator, and also has a designated guidance counselor. Houses compete throughout the year in a variety of academic, athletic, and leadership challenges, with the winning house securing the coveted “Crusader Cup.” While this system will greatly enhance our school community, we are still “four houses under one roof.”
